Omni includes several discrete and continuous palettes, and administrators can add custom ones for greater flexibility. Organization Admins can set default palettes for the organization and optionally create custom palettes.

Requirements

Organization Admin permissions are required to create and modify custom color palettes in the Settings > Chart palettes page.

Limitations

Chart palettes can only be used in X/Y style charts such as bar, scatter, line, etc.

Creating custom palettes

  1. Navigate to Settings > Chart palettes.
  2. Click Add.
  3. Customize by adding, editing and removing colors. Use the color picker control or select Open hex code editor and paste in a list of comma-separated hex codes.
  1. When finished, click Save.
Once created, you can identify custom palettes using the asterisk (*) next to their name in the Chart palettes page: Custom palettes will be listed in the chart editor palette picker in alphabetical order before any of the Omni-provided palettes.

Editing & deleting custom palettes

In Settings > Chart palettes, click the (three dots icon) next to a custom palette and select an option:
  • Edit - Make your changes and click Save when finished. Existing charts that use the palette will be updated with the changes.
  • Delete - Any existing charts using the palette will be updated to use the organizationโ€™s default palette. Note: If deleting the default palette, you need to set a new default palette first.

Setting a default palette

The default palette will be the initial set of colors applied to any new chart, automatically using the discrete or continuous palette based on the chart type and data. The current default will have a blue DEFAULT badge next to its name: To set a new default palette, click the (three dots icon) next to the palette and select Set as default. Existing charts that use the default color palette will be updated to the new default.

Using palettes in visualizations

Chart palettes are currently only used for color faceting. You can access the chart palettes from the Options panel in the Color > Options popup. Any custom palettes created for the organization will appear in the list before the Omni-provided palettes. For more on using palettes in visualizations, see the Color by / Stacking documentation.

Omni palette color reference

The color values for the Omni-specific palettes are provided below as a reference for creating your own palette variations. For all other palettes, refer to the Vega Scheme Reference.
