Every dashboard starts from a workbook — the queries you’ve built there become the chart tiles on the dashboard. This page covers creating a new dashboard and upgrading an existing classic dashboard to the new dashboard editor. For design topics like layout, content items, and themes, see the Dashboards overview.
Requirements
Creating and upgrading dashboards requires Editor, Manager, or Owner permissions on the document.
Create a new dashboard
In a draft workbook, click the + Dashboard button in the top right corner of the document.
Give the document a title. You can also add a description.
Select where you want the document to be saved.
Click Save. Omni redirects you to the dashboard.
To edit an existing dashboard, open it and click Edit in the top right corner of the document. If you’re in the underlying workbook, click Dashboard > Edit instead.
Upgrade a classic dashboard
On May 27, 2026, Omni released a new version of the dashboard editor. Dashboards created with the classic editor need to be upgraded before you can use layout components like containers and pages.
Upgrading a classic dashboard is permanent and cannot be reverted. Test on a duplicate first by clicking File > Duplicate.
Open the dashboard in draft mode
Navigate to the dashboard you want to upgrade and click Edit.
Enable advanced layout
Click File > Upgrade layout. A confirmation dialog appears.
Confirm the upgrade
Click Yes, Upgrade. Your existing items are preserved and placed into an initial container.
Next steps
Once your dashboard is created, head to the Dashboards overview for design topics — layout, content items, interactivity, and themes.
